DiamondArt officially started in July of 2002, but the services and talent go back much farther. As a way to display some of my many works of art in an electronic, online portfolio I decided to register the 'diamondart.com' web address back in 1998. As time went on, the site was used as a good place to build and test various web projects. Many of projects that I decided to play with on my site have become their own web sites such as: Got@Recipe (Got A Recipe) at www.gotarecipe.com and Historic Ferguson at www.historicferguson.com.
In high school I was having a tough time trying to decide on a career to go into and to study. I was very interested in architecture and was on a path to study architecture and drafting, but one teacher really made the difference in my life. I took an art class of hers and with that one class my life changed forever! The next year I was then elected to be a part of the schools yearbook staff where she was the advisor. I was assigned the job of preparing all of the computer graphics for the entire book (big task for the entire staff to handle....but it was given to just myslef!) and then helping to create the very first section of the yearbook which was created and laid out on the computer. Up until then the entire layout process was done by hand. With the success of that section I was asked back for my next and senior year to be the Yearbook Computer Editor. I was told later that I was going to be asked to be Editor-in-Chief of the book, which is the biggest job, but that would have meant that I would not have been able to spend as much time with the other students on the computers. This would normally not have been a problem, but this year we decided to create the entire yearbook on the computer...and I was the only one with any experience!
That one teacher and class changed my life because it showed me that I should go into computer graphics and design. From that point on I have not regretted the choice that I have made. Now several years have passed and I was in the process of trying to find a new job so I sent out resumes to many different employers and staffing agencies but to my surprise, I did not hear back from even one of them. With that I decided that it was time to do what I have been wanting to do for many years and that was to start out on my own as a designer and programmer. I said that this was the time so I re-designed my web site to show the services that I offer along with a promotional CD with a brief overview of my services so I could start getting the word out about myself and the services that I could offer to you and your business.
Well, I have had a change of professions since starting on my own. Back in October of 2002 my good friends 11 year old son Shawn vanished without a trace. After hearing that he was gone I decided to see what I could do to help. I began helping more and more and decided that maybe doing this for other families as well would be my true calling. Myself, along with my friend Craig, Shawn's dad, helped to start the Shawn Hornbeck Foundation ( www.shawnhornbeckfoundation.com ) which is dedicated to helping families of missing and abducted children. We also formed a professinal Search and Rescue Team ( www.sarteam.com ). We also launched a web site called A Lost Child ( www.alostchild.com ) which showcases missing children from around the US. This work takes most of my time and resources but if there is a project out there that needs to be done....please feel free to ask for a quote! I can always use the work as Craig and I have not seen a paycheck since last October when we started looking. We have given up everything we have to help other families in their time of need. Donations are always welcomed to either myself or to the foundation so we can keep providing services FREE of charge to families who are looking for their loved ones!
Almost 4 years have passed since I started with the Shawn Hornbeck Foundation. We continue to look for Shawn and other missing children all over the midwest. I still am providing my grapic talents for those who need projects completed. I have had a slow period where I have not solicited my services but I am starting by business back up again in full force. I now have numerous resources to help with all of your graphic/promotion/printing/web design/photography needs! Give me a call to see what I can do for you today!
